Setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Learn how to set up multi-factor authentication on your CyberVadis account, choose between an authenticator app or SMS verification, and keep your account secure every time you log in.

Written by Ana Nikolaeva

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required for all CyberVadis platform accounts. It adds a second layer of security to your login process, in addition to your password, you verify your identity with a one-time code each time you log in. This significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your account, even if your password is compromised.

Choose your MFA method

CyberVadis supports two MFA methods. Choose the one that works best for you during the setup process.

Option 1: authenticator app (recommended)

An authenticator app generates a one-time code on your mobile device that you enter each time you log in. This method is more secure than SMS and works without a mobile signal.

To set up an authenticator app:

  1. Download and install an authenticator app on your mobile device. CyberVadis is compatible with most standard one-time password (OTP) applications, including:

    • Google Authenticator

    • Microsoft Authenticator

    • Authy

    • Auth0 Guardian

  2. Log in to your CyberVadis account and navigate to your security settings

  3. Select the authenticator app option and scan the QR code displayed on screen using your app

  4. Enter the six-digit code generated by the app to confirm setup

  5. MFA is now active on your account

Option 2: SMS text message

If you prefer, you can receive your one-time code by SMS to your mobile phone.

To set up SMS verification:

  1. Log in to your CyberVadis account and navigate to your security settings

  2. Select the SMS option and enter your mobile phone number in international format (for example, +33 6 12 34 56 78 for a French number)

  3. We will send a six-digit verification code to your device

  4. Enter the code on the platform to confirm setup

  5. MFA is now active on your account

Logging in with MFA

Once MFA is set up, every login requires both your password and a verification code. Enter your password as usual, then enter the code generated by your authenticator app or received by SMS when prompted.

If you lose access to your MFA device

If you lose your mobile phone, change your number, or are otherwise unable to complete MFA verification, use our account recovery process to regain access. See [Can't access your account? How to recover it] for instructions.
